Here's what people said about Dev & Draft Season 1
"Dev & Draft isn't a polished trade expo or a corporate pitch day. It's a platform for work-in-progress projects where creators put their prototypes directly in people's hands and invite feedback […] the common thread was simple: early-stage ideas being tested in the open."
Herman Ahmad · Digital Strategist"We really enjoyed the event and got inspired by meeting other like-minded creators doing cool stuff."
Suren Rastogi, Laughing SticksHere's what we are planning for Season 2
Digital games showcase
Playtest local works-in-progress and be part of how Singapore's next games take shape. Grab a controller, give feedback — watch devs frantically jot notes while you're still mid-playthrough. In partnership with MAGES Institute of Excellence, we're bringing Singapore's next wave of game makers face to face with the people who matter most: you.
Scape · MAGES · Lvl 5 · 12pm – 5pmTabletop game showcase
Singapore's tabletop scene runs on connection, creativity, and the joy of play. Over two days, meet the local designers behind original titles, hear what drives them, and become part of a growing community they're building. We are proud to partner with #laiplayleow to bring Singapore's tabletop community together around the games being made right here.
Scape · Lvl 5 · 5 – 6 July · 12pm – 10pmIndustry networking mixer
Bringing together game developers, artists, designers, tabletop makers, and creatives from across Ideas Fest under one roof. Bring the person you met at the showcase. Find the one you didn't get to talk to. Music, drinks, and space for the conversations that don't happen in a conference room.
MAGES · Sunday 5 Jul · 7pm – 10pmWIP Meet
In partnership with SGGA, this session brings game design students and teams from local polytechnics and schools together for two pitch sessions with networking in between. Share what you're building, hear from others at the same stage, and find the people who want to see your project grow.
(Information on how to register is on the way)
MAGES · Monday 6 Jul · 12pm – 5pmProgram (2 days. Drop in anytime.)
Both days are free to attend. Come when you can, leave when you need to. We recommend at least a full day.
Who's This Event For?
This event is for people who want to celebrate creativity — the ones who see potential in messy prototypes, who get excited about "what if" conversations, who show up to support ideas in progress.
If you're here to see polished, ready-to-ship games or to play critic, this ain't it. We're looking for the believers, the encouragers, the "let me help you figure this out" crowd.
But apart from that, practically everyone. Here's who gets the most out of it.

Wait, Singapore Makes Games?
Yes!
You might not be surprised to hear that Singapore has an active game scene. Or that 4 in 5 Singaporeans play games.
Out of 5.8 million people, 4.6 million are active players. Singapore's gaming market generates over US$550 million a year — and is growing at 6.44% annually through 2030.
But here's something even hardcore gamers might not know:
We also develop games. 170+ game companies call Singapore home.
That includes global names like Ubisoft, Xbox, Nintendo, Tencent, SEGA, and Garena — all with offices here. And alongside them, a growing number of homegrown studios making their own original games.
Singaporeans have shipped over 200 games since 2000.
You might have played some without knowing they were made here. Assassin's Creed Shadows? Ubisoft Singapore co-developed it. Cat Quest? That's The Gentlebros, a local studio. Sedap, Ghostlore, Chinatown Detective Agency, Havendock — all local games!
And the next wave is still being built.
They're being made in actual offices, classrooms, and bedrooms. Dev & Draft is where you get to play what these developers are building before anyone else does.
Why Does Dev & Draft Exist?
Most game developers build alone. It doesn't have to stay that way.
Southeast Asia's game industry is fragmented. Developers work across different countries, languages, and markets — and rarely in the same room. The knowledge gap between indie devs and established studios is enormous. Regional conferences are expensive, infrequent, and often out of reach for solo devs or small teams.
Looking locally, where the cost of living is high, developers tend to lean towards building games that are globally and commercially minded from day one. The pressure to focus on quality and viability is real — and it's felt early.
Game jams exist to teach ideation and finishing skills. But they don't support what comes after — the long, messy middle.
The result: developers reinvent wheels, miss opportunities, and burn out.
Dev & Draft exists to change that. A low-stakes, high-honesty gathering where developers get peer feedback, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and real engagement from their target audience.
Behind Dev & Draft
Alvin Toh
Founder of Bobadee Events and Dev & DraftHi, it's Alvin.
I'm a gamer first. And for years I kept thinking: more people should know the rich impact games have on communities. The simple joy of play have the power to connect, inspire, and educate. And no other medium does it better than games.
I also wish that developers spent as much time finding their players as they did making their games.
The makers were there. The people who could help them were there. The players who could be their first supporters were there. They just weren't meeting. I wanted to help solve that.
As a multi-disciplinary creative, I believe that exciting things happen when ideas are synthesised across various disciplines. The basic human desire to create and to come together is what I'm for.
The bigger dream is to work towards a synergistic festival like SXSW in Singapore — where tech meets music meets games meets food meets dance meets film, and the collisions create things that couldn't exist otherwise.
But first, before we get there: I'm creating a space. And for you to be in it.
Singapore has game makers. Some of them are extraordinary. Most of them are building in rooms nobody knows about.
Dev & Draft is the room where that changes.
